Doctor indicted for charging Medicaid for the use of unapproved IUDs

The Government announced on October 8 that an osteopath in Pine Bluff, Arkansas was charged by a grand jury with one count of misbranding under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, one count of health care fraud, three money laundering counts, and forfeiture, for using an unapproved version of an IUD manufactured by Bayer, and submitting claims for reimbursement specific to the FDA-approved version. The government is seeking approximately $270,000 in forfeiture.
